Wages and Salaries

All positions are classified according to year of training, resulting in the establishment of wage rates for each graduate year and or year of residency. The current established rate for each graduate year is reflected in your contract or by contacting the Medical Education Department.

Pay Period/Pay Checks

Pay periods begin every other Friday and end every other Thursday. Pay checks are issued every other Friday covering the previous two-week period, resulting in 26 pay periods per year. Any gap nights worked within the two-week period, resulting in 26 pay periods per year. Meals

To establish a policy concerning meals for interns, residents and students while on duty. It is the policy of Medical Education to provide meals for interns, residents and students while on duty on both the Pennsylvania and Greenlawn Campus. Meals are provided for visiting interns, residents and students while on duty on both the Pennsylvania and Greenlawn Campus. Meal cards are provided by the Medical Education office and is for your use only. You must present your meal card in order to charge your food. You must also print your name legibly.

Pagers

The Medical Education Department will provide a pager to all interns and residents at no cost. If the beeper is lost or grossly abused, it will be your responsibility to pay the cost of replacement. Pagers must be returned to Medical Education upon the completion of your internship or residency. Please see hospital operator if you have problems with your pager.

American Osteopathic Association Membership

The AOA requires that all interns be members of the American Osteopathic Association. Membership dues will be paid upon submission of the invoice to the Medical Education Department.

National Board Part III of Osteopathic Medical Examiners

Exam fees for the NBOME Complex Level Three Examination or the Step Three of the USMLE for Interns will be paid upon submission of a pre-approved authorization form to the Medical Education Department.

BLS/ACLS Training

The Medical Education Department requires that all interns and residents be BLS and ACLS trained. Course fees will be paid upon pre-approval from the Medical Education Department and submission of the invoice to the Medical Education Department.

House Staff Status/Address Change

House Officers are responsible to notify the Medical Education Department of any change in their address and status such as marriage, divorce, or the birth of a child, so the appropriate changes can be made with regard to benefits.

Sick Policy

To establish a policy concerning any intern, resident or student who is sick. It is the policy of Medical Education that it shall be the responsibility of the intern, resident and student to notify the person in charge of your service, notify the attending and/or resident. Additionally, the Medical Education Department should be notified by 8:00 a.m. If a holiday or weekend, you are responsible for finding coverage and reporting the change in coverage to Medical Education on the next business day. Interns and residents will be required to make up time if absences exceed three days per rotation.

Time Off Policy

To establish a policy concerning any intern or resident requesting time off from duties. It is the policy of Medical Education that two months prior to any scheduled time off, it shall be the responsibility of the intern or resident to obtain from the Medical Education Department a Request for Absence form Duties Form. Appropriate signatures must be obtained before submitting the completed form to Medical Education.

INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENT EDUCATIONAL STIPEND

All educational stipends will be dispersed at the beginning of your contract year and are applicable to your contract year. If your contract is canceled by mutual agreement, you will owe the hospital a prorated amount based on month you are leaving. (Money you spend during an out-rotation above the budgeted travel amount, you will be responsible for and may use your educational stipend money). Stipend amounts may be increased or decreased at the discretion of IRMC; Medical Education and Finance.

You may use your stipend money to purchase books, products, trips and review courses that enhance your educational pursuit. Stipend money is not a bank account. You may save your stipend money in your personal account until you actually need it.
