By the end of this residency program, the resident will:
1) Demonstrate proficiency in history-taking, physical examination, and
assessment of medical patients
2) Manage a load of 12-15 patients admitted to the internal medicine
hospital service from presentation to discharge, providing appropriate
cost-effective care to the patients and their families.
3) Supervise other residents, interns, and medical students in all aspects
of medical care assuring quality care for the patients at all times
4) Compile a panel of at least 50 patients who are followed and managed in
the outpatient setting.
5) Research and create a paper worthy of publication, or prepare an oral
or poster presentation for a local, regional, or national conference.
6) Successfully complete the requirements of the American College of
Osteopathic Internists
7) Demonstrate competent knowledge in general internal medicine and the
internal medicine subspecialties by passing the American Osteopathic Board
of Internal Medicine.
